Designed for students in grades 9-12, Journalism is a semester-long elective course. In this hands-on, practical course, students are introduced to the foundations of journalistic writing and communication with lessons that explore the components of news stories, copy editing, photography, layout and design, and the role of journalism in today’s culture.

Through reading, project-based learning, and creative design, students gain experience in storytelling and digital publishing while exploring a variety of journalism-related careers. Lessons help students develop strong research, writing, and critical thinking skills while engaging with ethical standards and real-world applications.
